Finding the Perfect Shnack

Where to start? I am sure the beginning sounds great. Amid a pandemic and economic crisis, Shnack Food Company was born, and man! It was a difficult birth indeed. Many companies popped up during a pandemic because a lot of jobs were lost and opportunities made themselves apparent but that wasn’t the case for the food and hospitality industry. Many would say it is not wise to open up a food business in such trying times because profit margins can be extremely low and its an extremely stressful business to manage, I mean I would know having been a chef for 10+ years but the bottom line remained, that Shnack has always been my dream and that was enough reason to put my best foot forward.

Defining Shnack and giving it its pronounced identity was an educational journey for me. At first, when the company started, the urge to be everything to everyone was hard to fight. Trying to execute every single idea that came to mind as well as having to slightly compromise in hopes of paying the bills was not a sustainable approach to running the business. I learned very quickly that Shnack Food Company cannot be solely who I am as a person, and this meant that many of my grand ideas had to lay to rest, nor could Shnack be whatever everyone else needed it to be and this meant saying no to some customers that would compromise the values of the company.

Shnack is a company driven by quality and sustainability which is a narrow road indeed but worth it. Staying true to what we value the most keeps the foundations strong and gives us a distinctive look within the food industry. We strongly believe in:

  • Sustainability
  • Integrity
  • Thinking about Tomorrow
  • Being Attentive

These values define what we do, how we do it, and why we do what we do. Sustainability, integrity, and Future thinking are all expressed in what we choose to serve. I mean we all know that our planet isn’t in great shape and doing business with ignorance toward that reality in pursuit of profit isn’t right, and that’s why we explicitly do not support farming industries that push profit over the well-being of our planet. It’s no secret that the beef, chicken, and seafood industry have major impacts on our environment and that is why we do not serve those proteins in protest for our planet and being aligned with our values.

Shnack believes in enjoying what the planet can give and not enjoying food at the expense of the planet’s well-being and the comfort of future generations. Sustainability can be tasty and that’s what we specialize in here at Shnack Food Company.

In conclusion, I am proud of how Shnack turned out to be and I hope you enjoy what Shnack has to offer too.
